Read the full entryI know that the 'library' of Tropaion has been neglected for so long time. Please let me apologize for the absence of resources that the 'library' so promised! However, that long hiatus ends this new summer month with the following essential series of posts...
The Tropaion library will host essential posts for those who wish to get elementary written material for the ancient Greek religion, rites & rituals, cults and theology. These series of posts will provide links to free accessed - public domain - material and even a straight forward link to download the material.
In addition the second series will also prove essential as they will be introductory and explanatory for essential gateways such as the Perseus, the Project Centers and others.
So please be have in mind to visit the 'library'
Do you need to use ancient Greek in your website and / or your documents/manuscripts? Do you have trouble to write in ancient Greek? Now you can do that in the internet easily and efficiently!
Type Greek is a new java driven software developed by Randy Hoyt. The software has an amazing idea behind it: you can type, create, an ancient Greek text by just typing at the text area available in the web. No specialized keyboards and/or keywords etc. - however there is again a java based software which can be download to your hard drive and work it locally, which is entitled UniGreek. The only elements that you need are: a polytonic font (see free fonts here) and the knowledge to type in Beta Code (see guide here).
Did you get the above required elements? Are you ready? Type your ancient Greek text below:
As you can see the functionality of this software is extremely powerful! Some more advance use of this software is available here at the Ars Grammatica, where the Type Greek and Hot Potatoes software were combined for a online ancient Greek grammar examination!
